<strong style="font-style: inherit; line-height: 1.7;">I have made several ripple afghans and really like them. I was looking through patterns for pot holders and didn't see any for ripple stitch ones that were quite what I had in mind. So, I adapted what I have done on the ripple afghans and this pattern is what I came up with. I really like the look, and since they are made with two layers they provide a lot of protection for my table and counter top. I hope that you like them and if you have any questions on the pattern please let me know and I will see if I can help.</strong></div>

<strong>Since fall is just around the corner my thoughts for new crochet projects naturally turned to the holidays and what I had made up in the past. This little snowman jar cozy was one of my favorite quick projects. I filled them with Christmas candy and gave them to my family members and friends last year. They seemed to really like them. This shows up on pinterest often but I changed it up a little and made a lid for it that looks like a snowman's black hat. It's very easy to make, and as I said works up quickly, so you might want to consider it for your holidays. They don't have to be filled with candy of course, but hey, that could be a lot of the reason everyone liked them!</strong></div>

<div style="color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', 'Bitstream Charter', Times, serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 24px;">
<strong>The jar cozy was from a basic pattern I found online. I changed it only slightly. The basic pattern is at: </strong><br />

<strong>I used an H hook </strong><br />
<strong>Small amount of white worsted weight</strong><br />
<strong>Small amount of black worsted weight</strong><br />
<strong>Small amounts of red and black felt</strong><br />
<strong>Glue</strong><br />
<strong>The jar I used was one I picked up at Dollar Tree and was about 5 ½ inches </strong><strong>high with a ruffled top and about 15 inches around.</strong></div>

<strong>Pattern:</strong></div>
<div style="color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', 'Bitstream Charter', Times, serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 24px;">
<strong>Ch 23.</strong><br />
<strong>Row 1: Turn and sc in 2nd chain from hook. Sc in each stitch across. (22 stitches) , Ch 1 Turn</strong><br />
<strong>Row 2: Sc in back loop across on each row, ch 1 and turn for a total 41 to 46 rows. (Check to see if stretches to fit around jar)</strong><br />
<strong>After last row join to starting row with single crochets. Tie off at bottom and weave in ends.</strong></div>

<strong>Hat:</strong></div>
<div style="color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', 'Bitstream Charter', Times, serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 24px;">
<strong>To make the hat I just used a basic hat </strong><strong>type design. I made it so the top circle was just a smidgen bigger around than the opening so it would </strong><strong>slip over the top. I’m not a pattern writer so hope these directions make sense:</strong></div>
<div style="color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', 'Bitstream Charter', Times, serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 24px;">
<b><br /></b><strong>Ch 4, join with slip st to form circle</strong><br />
<strong>Row 1: Ch 3, dc 11 stitches in circle, join with sl in top of ch (12 stitches) </strong><br />
<strong>Row 2: Ch 2, dc in same st as ch, 2, dc in each stitch around, join with sl to top of ch 2 (24 stitches)</strong><br />
<strong>Row 3: Ch 2, *dc in next stitch, 2 dc in nest* repeat from * around, join with sl to top of ch 2 (36 stitches)</strong><br />
<strong>Row 4: Ch 2, *dc in next 2 stitches, 2 dc in next* repeat from * around, join with sl to top of ch 2 (48 stitches)</strong><br />
<strong>Row 5: Ch 1, sc in back loop of each stitch around, join with sl to top of ch 2 (48 stitches)</strong><br />
<strong>Row 6: Ch 2, dc around (48 stitches)</strong><br />
<strong>Repeat above row until hat is as tall as you want. I did 4 additional rows. You can make it as high or as short a hat as you want. Finish off.</strong></div>
<div style="color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', 'Bitstream Charter', Times, serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 24px;">
<b><br /></b><strong>Fold up last row of dcs to form a small brim.</strong></div>
<div style="color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', 'Bitstream Charter', Times, serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 24px;">
<b><br /></b><strong>Ch 15, leaving a long tail at beginning and end. I threaded the tail through the </strong><strong>top of the hat and tied on the inside to make a loop to lift the lid.</strong></div>
<div style="color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', 'Bitstream Charter', Times, serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 24px;">

<span style="font-style: inherit; line-height: 1.7;"><b>This little wrap was designed specifically for the elderly - particularly those confined to wheelchairs or to bed. <br />
<br />
I have a dear friend who is going through chemo treatments. They have been going well and we are all hopeful. When she saw some shoulder wraps I had made for the local care center she said they would be great when getting chemo treatments as they always have blankets but that the blankets don’t cover the shoulders and the air in the treatment lab is always chilly. Also they would make it easy for the nurses to check the IV. I made one for her and when she wore it to her treatment she received lots of comments about it and had other patients asking where she had gotten it.<br />
<br />
Since I really enjoy crocheting and love it if I can make things that people find useful and that can bring some comfort to someone, my ears perked up. I got busy and made up 8 and took them to the cancer center. They were immediately given out and others started asking for the pattern or where they could get one. Since then I have made more and have given out the pattern to others.<br />
<br />
I liked the stitch on this pattern and have used it for lots of the wraps. I adapted the pattern slightly from:<br />
<a href="http://stitcheryprojects.com/2014/04/03/little-checks-wrap/" target="_blank">stitcheryprojects.com/2014/04/03/little-checks-wrap/ </a><br />
I really thank her for the great pattern!!<br />
<br />
<b>Here is the pattern:</b><br />
<br />
The example is made in worsted weight acrylic yarn<br />
<br />
Size: The sample is 18-½” from neck to edge. The bottom of each of the four panels is 26-½” wide. Size can be increased or decreased by changing hook size. The longer the wrap is made the bigger around it gets so it is easy to make the width and length you need.<br />
<br />
<b>Materials:</b><br />
14.7 oz/937 yds worsted weight yarn<br />
Size H (5mm) crochet hook (I use an I hook and I crochet loosely)<br />
<br />
<b>Abbreviations:</b><br />
ch = chain<br />
ch sp = chain space<br />
dc = double crochet<br />
shell = 2 dc, 1 ch, 2 dc in chain space indicated<br />
<br />
<b>Instructions:</b><br />
Make all stitches in both loops<br />
<br />
Chain 50<br />
<br />
Row 1: Dc in 3rd ch from hook, 2 dc in next ch, dc in each of next 8 ch, (2<br />
dc in next ch, dc in next ch, 2 dc in next ch, dc in each of next 8 ch) three times, 2 dc in next ch, dc in each of last 2 ch, Ch 3, turn.<br />
<br />
Row 2: Shell in 4th dc, ** (skip 2 dc, 2 dc in space between dc) five times, skip 2 dc, shell in next dc. Repeat from ** three more times, skip 2 dc, dc in last dc. Ch 3, turn.<br />
<br />
Row 3: Shell in next shell, ** 2 dc in each space between previous row’s 2 dc sets across to the next shell, shell in the shell. Repeat from ** across the row, dc in the top of the turning chain. Ch 3, turn.<br />
<br />
On all following rows you will be working 2 dc in spaces between previous 2 dc sets<br />
and a shell in the center of each shell. 2 dc sets will increase by 1 set in each panel between shells..<br />
<br />
Repeat row 3 until wrap is desired size, then finish off with the last row given below. The sample has 37 rows, including the last row.<br />
<br />
Last Row: Dc in 2nd and 3rd dc, 3 dc in ch-1 sp, (dc in each dc across to next ch-1 sp, 3 dc in ch-1 sp) four times, dc in each of last two dc, dc in turning chain.<br />
<br />
Finish off and weave in end.<br />
<br />
The wrap can be made in a solid color or can be made with any number of color changes. The best way to make a color change is to finish all but the very last pull through of the two loops of the last stitch of a row. Cut yarn with a few inches of tail and join with new color next to stitch. Pull new color through last two loops. Weave in ends.<br />

</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I love this pattern. I have tried several other patterns and keep returning to this one. Plus since it has no openwork, it might be a warmer hat. I get to use lots of scrap wool and change up the rows for interest. I found this pattern on a site on the internet but the site no longer exists and I have not been able to find the pattern elsewhere. If you know where the pattern came from I would be happy to give credit here as it is a great pattern!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Poster of pattern stated “I got this pattern from my 94 year old aunt. She has made over 1000 of these during the past few years and donated them to shelters, and women's prisons.” I make them in kids sizes and donate them to the local coats for kids campaign so they can give them out with the coats. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here is the pattern:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I use a J hook when I want to make it for a size that fits my own head. You can use a smaller hook and thinner yarn to make for a smaller size. While I have a pattern I tend to improvise a bit with different wool and different size hooks. This pattern calls for one color. When I do it, like the picture, I use a different color here and there to make it more interesting.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Round 1, chain 4, slip stitch in first chain to form a ring. Chain 3 (this counts as a double crochet) then 11 dc in ring, join with sl st in top of chain 3 (so 12 dc made).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Round 2, (Chain 3, 2 dc) in first stitch, dc front post (fp) around the next stitch, (3 dc in next st, fp around next st) around, join. (24 stitches)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Round 3 (Chain 3, dc) in first st, fp around next st, (2 dc in next st, fp around next st) around, join (36 sts)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Round 4: (Chain 3, dc) in first st, dc in next st, fp around next st, (2 dc in next st, dc in next st, fp around next st) around, join. (48 sts)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Round 5-12: Chain 3, dc in next 2 stitches, fp around next st, (dc in next 3 sts, fp around next st) around, join. At end of last round, fasten off.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
( I don't necessarily do 12 rows. I do as many as looks good or feels good on my head. Also.... I like to do a single crochet around the end for my last row.)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
You can put a pom pom on the top, or put a crochet flower on the side, or just do different colors for every few rows, etc....this basic hat style can be changed any number of ways.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

Tissue Cover</div>
<br />
This tissue box cover is my adaptation of a design by Judy Nelson which I found on Annie’s Crafts. It works up quickly and easily and can be made in a solid color or in stripes and would no doubt be pretty in a variety of colors. All of the covers in the above picture used the same pattern - the only difference is the colors I used on each row. The tissue boxes I covered were a standard 9x5x3 ½ but the pattern can easily be adjusted to fit about any size box once you have the basic pattern down.<br />

Row 1: Beginning at top ch 29, sc in second chain from hook, dc in next chain, (sc in next ch, dc in next ch) across, turn. (28 stitches)<br />
<br />
Row 2-6: Ch 1, sc in first dc, dc in next sc, (sc in next dc, dc in next sc) across, turn.<br />
<br />
Row 7: Ch 1, sc in first dc, dc in next sc, (sc in next dc, dc in next sc) 2 times. For opening chain 16, skip next 16 stitches, (sc in next dc, dc in next sc) across remainder of row, turn. (28 stitches and chains)<br />
<br />
Row 8: Working in stitches and chains, ch 1, sc in first dc, dc in next sc, (sc in next dc, dc in next sc) 2 times, (dc in next ch, sc in next ch,) 8 times, (sc in next dc, dc in next sc) across remainder of row, turn. (28 stitches)<br />
<br />
Row 9-13: Ch 1, sc in first dc, dc in next sc, (sc in next dc, dc in next sc) across. At end of row do not turn.<br />
<br />
Row 14: Working around outer edge, in end of rows and in stitches, Ch 1, sc in each end of row, 12 stitches across the short end. Working on opposite side of starting chain 3 sc in starting ch, sc in each stitch across, 3 sc in corner, sc in each end of row, 3 sc in corner, sc in each stitch. Join in first ch 1. Do not turn.<br />
<br />
Row 15: Ch 1, working in back loops only, (sc in next stitch, dc in next stitch) around, join and turn.<br />
<br />
<b>**Note:</b> At this point I worked 2 more rows of my main color around (as shown in rows 16-24 below) and then alternated colors for a stripe or added several rows of a different color for a wider stripe. The choice is up to you if you want stripes, and to your preferences.<br />
<br />
Row 16-24: Ch 1, (sc in next stitch, dc in next stitch) around, join and turn. At the end of row 24 do not turn.<br />
<br />
<b>**Note:</b> At this point you need to measure to make sure that the sides of your cover are the same height as the box you will be covering. I have found that all boxes are not the same so this is the point to add rows if you need more height or remove rows if sides will be to long.<br />
<br />
Row 25: Ch 1, sc in each stitch around, join and fasten off.<br />
<br />
Row 26: For Edging: With top facing away from you, join with a sl st in any front loop of round 14, sl st loosely in each stitch around, join with a sl st in first stitch, fasten off.<br />
<br />
<br />
Flower:<br />
Ch 4<br />
<br />
Row 1: Ch 4, sl st in 3rd ch from hook to join. Ch 1, sc 11 in center of ring. Join with sl st in ch 1.<br />
<br />
Row 2: Ch 8, sl st in same ch as join. Sl st to next sc, ch 8, sl st in same sc. Repeat around circle of all 12 sc. (12 petals)<br />
<br />
You can make the flower larger or smaller by doing more or less chains for the petals.<br />

<b><span style="font-size: large;">Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer Cover</span></b></div>
<br />
Since I am no longer cooking for a large family I find that my Kitchen Aid stand mixer sits for longer periods of time unused on my kitchen counter. It’s too heavy to put in a cupboard and get out each time I want to use it though so…I went looking for a pattern to crochet a cover for it. I sure didn’t find much! I found quilted patterns and covers from Kitchen Aid but nothing really to crochet.<br />
<br />
So I got out my trusty hook, some worsted weight yarn and went to work to see what I could come up with. I actually am rather happy with my result. The pattern is a simple one, using only alternating single crochet, double crochet and chains but has a nice texture to it. Mine is just a solid color as it was my practice model but this would work up nicely with stripes. (Don’t laugh at my flower; I just stuck that on there so I would know the front from the back!)<br />
<br />
I’ve never written a crochet pattern before but took a deep breath and plunged in - after all I’m surly not the only one who thinks a cover would be handy. So..here’s my effort. If you have any problems or find mistakes, or things that just won’t work in my pattern, please let me know and I’ll try to clarify and help.<br />
<br />

<b>To Print or Download this Pattern:</b></div>
<div style="text-align: start;">
To print this pattern click on the “Print & PDF” button at the very end of this post. It also gives you the option of making a PDF to download. (If you do not see the button then click on the name of the post at the top and it will take you to the page for just that pattern - the button should be at the bottom of that page)</div>

<b>Back Panel:</b><br />

Ch 25<br />
<br />
Row 1: Sc in second ch from hook, dc in next chain, (sc in next ch, dc in next ch) across. Turn (24 stitches made)<br />

<br />
Rows 29-40: Sc in second ch from hook, dc in next chain, (sc in next ch, dc in next ch) across. Turn (This panel will have the same number of rows as your front panel) Finish off.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<b>Sew Together:</b><br />
<br />
Place right sides of 2 side panels together and seam one short side. (Makes one very long panel which goes up and over the sides of your mixer.) Then the hard part. Fit the front panel to the sides and top of the side panels and seam around the edges. This forms the front and sides of the cover. Finally fit the back panel to the sides and top of the side panels and seam around the edges. This should now fit down over the mixer, fitting to the shape of the mixer with the bowl attached. I just used a whip stitch to attach the pieces to each other but you can use any stitch you choose.<br />
<br />
<b>Flower:</b><br />
<b><br /></b>
The flower is a simple one that I only placed on the cover so the front would be obvious to me but should you want to do the flower the pattern is:<br />
<br />
Ch 4<br />
<br />
Row 1: Slip stitch in 3rd ch from hook to join. Ch 1, sc 11 in center of ring. Join with sl st in ch 1.<br />
<br />
Row 2: Ch 12, sl st in same ch as join. Sl st to next sc, ch 12, sl st in same sc. Repeat around circle of all 12 sc. (12 petals)<br />
<br />
You can make the flower larger or smaller by doing more or less chains for the petals.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<br />
I store my paddle, dough hook and whip in the bowl and it is all now covered, dust free and ready to go when I need it.<br />
<br />
Good luck and enjoy! I would love to see pictures of your covers and will get back to you right away should you have any problems.<br />

<br /></div>
<div style="color: #333333; line-height: 19px;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">I hope that everyone had a great holiday season! It has been some time since I posted so it's good to be back. Several months ago I tried a no-knead bread recipe I found on Pinterest. It was great - easy, fast, and delicious! It got me looking at and trying lots of other bread recipes I came across. In fact, I haven't purchased any bread at the store since!</span></div>
<div style="color: #333333; line-height: 19px;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="color: #333333; line-height: 19px;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">Some recipes, I found, were easier, some were faster, and some had a much better flavor and texture. I'm still trying new recipes and this one, for Rosemary Olive Oil Bread, will definitely be added to my bread rotation. I found this recipe at <a href="http://www.ahintofhoney.com/2011/04/rosemary-olive-oil-bread.html" target="_blank">A Hint of Honey</a> and made a few changes when I made it. For one thing she baked hers on a pizza stone. A pizza stone is on my want list but I don't have one yet so decided to bake mine in a loaf pan. It worked great! Also, she used white wheat flour in her bread but I didn't have any in my pantry so I used all-purpose and bread flour, and again, it worked great. So basically this is a very easy and flexible recipe.</span></div>
<div style="color: #333333; line-height: 19px;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="color: #333333; line-height: 19px;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">If you have never made your own bread it is really worth a try. There are recipes out there for bread that can be mixed up in just minutes and that don't require any kneading. Recipes for other breads, like this Rosemary Olive Oil Bread require a little more time but especially if you have a stand mixer with a dough hook, are really very easy. AND the smell of homemade bread baking in your kitchen is one that just can't be beat AND no chemicals (preservatives, flavor enhancers ect - who needs them???)</span></div>
<div style="color: #333333; line-height: 19px;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="color: #333333; line-height: 19px;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">This is a delicious bread, light and with a great flavor and texture! Don't be intimated by the long list of ingredients, it's not as complicated as it looks and mixes up quickly and easily! I would love to hear your comments about it!</span></div>

<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="color: #333333; line-height: 19px;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">Ingredients:</span></div>
<ul style="color: #333333; line-height: 19px;">
<li><span style="font-family: inherit;">1 cup warm water (110 degrees approx)</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: inherit;">1 tablespoon sugar</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: inherit;">2 teaspoons instant yeast</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: inherit;">1 teaspoon salt (I used kosher salt, I just prefer it)</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: inherit;">2 teaspoons dried rosemary</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: inherit;">1/4 teaspoon Italian seasoning</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: inherit;">1 teaspoon garlic powder</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: inherit;">1/4 teaspoon black pepper</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: inherit;">2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: inherit;">1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: inherit;">1/2 cups bread flour</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: inherit;">1 egg with 1 tablespoon water whisked, for the top egg wash</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: inherit;">dried rosemary for sprinkling on top</span></li>
</ul>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="color: #333333; line-height: 19px;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">Directions:</span></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="color: #333333; line-height: 19px;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="color: #333333; line-height: 19px;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">In a large bowl combine warm water, sugar and yeast. I use the bowl of my stand mixer. Let sit for about 8 minutes until the mixture looks creamy. With the paddle attachment, stir in the salt, rosemary, seasonings, olive oil and 1 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour. After it was mixed I changed to the dough hook and added the additional 1/2 cup bread flour. (If you don't have bread flour I'm sure all-purpose would work fine.) Mix on medium speed on mixer until dough forms a ball. Add additional flour, a little at a time, if necessary to get the dough to form a ball and pull away from the sides of the bowl. (I had to add almost an additional 1/2 cup of flour.) Once the dough pulls away from the sides and forms a ball, then knead with the dough hook at medium speed (I used 4 on my Kenmore) for about 5 minutes.</span></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="color: #333333; line-height: 19px;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="color: #333333; line-height: 19px;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">Place the dough into a lightly greased bowl, cover and let rise in a warm spot until doubled - about 1 hour. Punch down the dough and form it into a loaf shape. I line a glass loaf pan with parchment paper and place the loaf shaped dough into it. Cover and let rise again for about 45 minutes until it again doubles in size.</span></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="color: #333333; line-height: 19px;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="color: #333333; line-height: 19px;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">About 20 minutes before the 45 minutes is up preheat your oven and another glass loaf pan to 400 degrees. When you have the pan and oven heated lift the dough, using the parchment paper, out of the first loaf pan and place it in the preheated pan. You don't have to use the parchment paper but it makes it easier to move to the preheated pan if you do. Place in oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes. After the bread has baked for 10 minutes brush the top with the egg wash and sprinkle with the rosemary - this makes a wonderful golden crust on the top of your bread - then continue baking until golden brown. Bread is done when it sounds hollow when tapped or when an instant read thermometer reads 190 degrees.</span></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="color: #333333; line-height: 19px;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="color: #333333; line-height: 19px;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">Allow (if you can stand to wait) bread to cool before cutting. Slicing while bread is still very hot tends to make it kind of gummy inside - but it will still taste good!</span></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="color: #333333; line-height: 19px;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="color: #333333; line-height: 19px;">

<br />
With Christmas just around the corner I start thinking of Christmas cookies. This is a recipe I saw on Pinterest and just had to try. It comes from <a href="http://www.the-girl-who-ate-everything.com/2010/12/day-1-of-12-days-of-christmas-cookies.html" target="_blank">The Girl Who Ate Everything</a> and they are really very good. My picture doesn't do the cookies justice, they are much greener than the picture shows and the cranberries are much redder. (No photography definitely isn't my strong point, but I figure any picture to give you an idea of what the recipe looks like is better than none - I'm right - right???) Zip on over to <a data-mce-href="http://www.the-girl-who-ate-everything.com/2010/12/day-1-of-12-days-of-christmas-cookies.html" href="http://www.the-girl-who-ate-everything.com/2010/12/day-1-of-12-days-of-christmas-cookies.html" target="_blank" title="The Girl Who Ate Everything">The Girl Who Ate Everything </a>and check out her pictures - now that's how the cookie really looks!! The color makes them a perfect Christmas cookie and the flavor - wow! This is a cookie you can be proud to give as a gift or serve at a holiday get-together.<br />

<br /></div>
<span class="mceItemHidden">I have always loved the smell of bread or rolls baking - takes me back to my Mother's kitchen - there's just nothing like it. Plus, I love making<span class="mceItemHidden"> </span>homemade things, without all the added chemicals. I mean really, do bread or rolls need flavor enhancers? Preservatives? Not if they taste like fresh homemade ones. The flavor is great with nothing added but a little butter and when they are this tasty, they sure aren't going to last long enough to need preservatives!!! And if, like me, you don't have a houseful to eat them you can just freeze<span class="mceItemHidden"> </span>them and take out one or two whenever you want. If you have never made homemade rolls you really ought to jump right in and give them a try. They aren't difficult, if fact they whip up easily and if you have a mixer with a dough hook they don't even require any hand kneading. Easy Peasy! And once you try them, smell the wonderful aroma, and get a taste of the flavor, you will never want store bought again! If you have any questions or need any additional info about making your own rolls just let me know in the comments below and I'll be glad to help in any way I can! Don't hesitate - jump in and give them a try - I guarantee you'll be glad you did!!!</span><br />

<img alt="" class="mceWPmore mceItemNoResize" data-mce-src="http://gramshomecooking.wordpress.com/wp-includes/js/tinymce/plugins/wordpress/img/trans.gif" src="http://gramshomecooking.wordpress.com/wp-includes/js/tinymce/plugins/wordpress/img/trans.gif" title="More..." /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
Ingredients:</div>
<ul>
<li><div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
1 1/2 cups warm water (about 110 degrees)</div>
</li>
<li><div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
1 tablespoon instant rapid rise yeast</div>
</li>
<li><div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
2 tablespoons sugar</div>
</li>
<li><div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
2 tablespoons vegetable oil</div>
</li>
<li><div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
1 teaspoon salt</div>
</li>
<li><div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
<span class="mceItemHidden">4 cups all purpose flour</span></div>
</li>
</ul>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
Directions:</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
In the bowl of a stand mixer stir together the warm water, yeast and sugar. Let stand until creamy, about 5 minutes. It will have a creamy color and will be slightly bubbled on the top.</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
<span class="mceItemHidden">To this mixture add the vegetable oil, salt and 2 cups of flour. On low speed, with the paddle attachment, mix until a wet, sticky looking mixture forms. Still on low speed, with the paddle, add another 1 cup of flour and mix again until incorporated. Switch to the dough hook and add the remaining 1 cup of flour. On low speed mix the dough until it pulls away from the sides of the bowl. (You will see it pulling away but the side of the bowl will still have some dough on it.)</span></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
Turn the speed on your mixture to medium, and with the dough hook still attached, knead until smooth and elastic, about 5 minutes. The side of the bowl will be clean. If you don't have a mixer with a dough hook you will need to place the dough on a floured board and knead by hand 5 to 8 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic. (To do this press dough with the heels of your hands, away from you, turn a quarter turn, and keep repeating.)</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
Lightly grease a large bowl and place the dough in the bowl and turn to coat. Cover with plastic wrap and let rise until double, usually about 20 to 30 minutes. A little longer won't hurt if you aren't ready to form them into rolls immediately</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
. </div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
Turn dough out onto a lightly floured board and shape into rolls. I like large dinner rolls so I usually make 12 in a 9x13 inch baking dish. If you would like more, smaller rolls, you can divide into 20 rolls. Shape each into a ball by pinching together at the bottom and place them in a lightly greased 9x13 inch baking dish. Cover with a lightly sprayed sheet of plastic wrap and let double while your oven is preheating to 400 degrees - usually about 20 minutes. Again, a little longer won't make a difference.</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
Bake at 400 degrees 13 to 15 minutes if you have made about 20 smaller rolls or about 20 to 25 minutes for 12 larger rolls. Brush with melted butter (or just rub a stick of butter over the tops) when you remove them from the oven.</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
Don't burn your fingers when you can't wait to break off one and give it a try!</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
Enjoy!!!</div>

<br />
<span class="mceItemHidden">I have been seeing these cookies around the web and since I was craving something chocolate and didn't have a lot of time I decided to give them a try. My rating on them - so so. They were super easy to mix up, since they are made with a cake mix, but basically, to me, just tasted like a very sweet chocolate cookie. I'm sure that's because before they are baked they are rolled in powdered sugar. I guess I expected the powdered sugar to get a little crispier than what it did. It stayed soft and sticky so they were a little messy to eat and as I said, very sweet. So, though they were a good basic, soft,</span> chocolate cookie, they really didn't have anything distinctive about them that made me want to devour them and then make another batch. I have no doubt that kids would love them, sticky and all. I've read good and bad reviews on them and would love to hear your opinion if you have, or do give them a try.<br />

<li><div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
1/2 cup vegetable oil</div>

<li><div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">

<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
Directions:</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">

Stir, by hand, the cake mix, oil and eggs until dough forms. Shape into 1 1/2 inch balls and place, 2 inches apart, on parchment paper lined cookie sheet (or ungreased cookie sheet) and let sit on the counter 10 to 15 minutes to let the dough balls dry out somewhat. <br />
I don't often eat out at fast food restaurants but when I do I like to go to Taco Bell, and Crunchwrap Supremes are one of my favorites. So when I started seeing recipes for copycat Crunchwraps on Pinterest they definitely caught my eye. I tried one, and though it was close to Taco Bells, it wasn't quite the flavor I was looking for so I started making a few changes and this is what I came up with. Though it's close to the recipes I have seen, I did make a few changes. Mostly what I found is that it's easy to adjust it to whatever your tastes are. I like to make mine with chicken, shredded mexican blend cheese and a little salsa verde, but I'm sure it would work just as well with whatever you want in it. So, here's how I make mine. I'd love to hear your comments on what you have tried and liked. Hope you enjoy them as much as I have.<br />
<a name='more'></a><div align="center">

<div data-mce-style="text-align: center;" style="text-align: center;">

<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
Ingredients:</div>
<ul>
<li><div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
Shredded chicken (or ground beef, shredded beef or shredded pork)</div>
</li>
<li><div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
Mexican blend shredded cheese</div>
</li>
<li><div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
Salsa verde</div>
</li>
<li><div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
Doritos</div>
</li>
<li><div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
Sour cream</div>
</li>
<li><div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
Lettuce, shredded</div>
</li>
<li><div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
Tomatoes, chopped</div>
</li>
<li><div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
Flour Tortillas</div>
</li>
</ul>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
Directions:</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
To make one crunchwrap I take 1 chicken tender and season it with a little taco seasoning and salt and cook in microwave for about 2 minutes or until no longer pink. Shred chicken and set aside. (To make more than 1 crunchwrap just double, triple or more the ingredient amounts.)</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
I use one LARGE flour tortilla for the outside of the Crunchwrap. Since it is hard to get it wrapped to totally enclose the fillings (I tend to go overboard on fillings) I use a small flour tortilla (about the size of a corn tortilla) to place in the center over the fillings. If I don't have a small tortilla I just cut a circle about the size of a corn tortilla out of a large tortilla. Heat the large tortilla in the microwave for 10 to 15 seconds to soften and make it easier to work with. Place 2 or 3 tablespoons of chicken in the center of the tortilla. Cover the chicken with about 3 tablespoons of shredded cheese (more or less to your taste). Place 2 or 3 teaspoons of salsa (I use salsa verde but any salsa will work) on top of cheese. Cover the chicken, cheese and salsa with a layer of Doritos chips and place 2 or 3 teaspoons of sour cream on top of the Doritos. Toss on some shredded lettuce and chopped tomatoes.</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
Place the small tortilla in the center over the fillings and then fold the large tortilla up around the small tortilla, working your way around until the filling is entirely enclosed. Place the bundle, seam side down, in a warm skillet over medium low heat for about 3 minutes until the bottom is a golden brown. Turn over and brown the other side for about 3 minutes.</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
When it is golden brown and crunchy it's ready to enjoy!!</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">

<br /></div>
Can't believe it's been a month since I posted anything. Ok, the reason, I admit it, is that I got sidetracked by Pinterest. My daughter ask me one night on the phone if I had ever checked out Pinterest, and when I said no, I didn't even know what it was, she told me I really needed to look it over as there was so much neat information there. Well, here I am, a month later, finally pulling myself away from Pinterest to do a post on my site. My mind is still in a fog from all the wonderful recipes and crochet patterns I've seen and been trying. SO.....BE WARNED! If you haven't checked out Pinterest yet don't even wander over there if you have anything at all that you need to get done - PEOPLE HAVE DISAPPEARED THERE FOR WEEKS AT A TIME!!!!!!!<br />
<br />
I have always loved yeast breads but now that my kids are grown and I live alone I just never make it anymore - guess it just seemed to much effort for one person. But then there was Pinterest, tempting me with all these new recipes I had never seen before - No Knead Bread?? Fast & Easy?? Wow, they sounded really good. First I tried the "No Knead Bread" and I loved it. It made a beautiful round loaf that could be flavored with all types of add ins. I will try to get that recipe posted in a few day because if you haven't tried it you really might want to. Talk about easy, quick and delish!!<br />
<br />
I really wanted to try a regular loaf of white bread like I remembered growing up with but I no longer had my Mom's recipe. Then I found this recipe! Not only is it far faster and easier than any I used to make, it raised up beautifully and tastes absolutely wonderful! I will definitely be making this bread again and again!<br />
<br />
At the Pennies and Pancakes site Andrea has a wonderful tutorial called "<a data-mce-href="http://penniesandpancakes.blogspot.com/2012/10/how-to-make-homemade-bread-step-by-step.html" href="http://penniesandpancakes.blogspot.com/2012/10/how-to-make-homemade-bread-step-by-step.html" target="_blank" title="How to Make Homemade Bread (Step by Step)">How to Make Homemade Bread (Step by Step)</a> that you might want to check out. Thank you Andrea for the wonderful recipe and the great tutorial!!<br />

Ingredients:</div>
<ul>
<li><div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
3 cups warm water (about 110 degrees)</div>
</li>
<li><div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
1/4 cup sugar</div>
</li>
<li><div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
1 1/2 tablespoons yeast</div>

<li><div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
1/3 cup oil</div>
</li>
<li><div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
1 tablespoon salt</div>
</li>
<li><div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
6 - 7 cups flour (I used all-purpose white but check <a data-mce-href="http://penniesandpancakes.blogspot.com/2012/10/how-to-make-homemade-bread-step-by-step.html" href="http://penniesandpancakes.blogspot.com/2012/10/how-to-make-homemade-bread-step-by-step.html" target="_blank" title="Pennies and Pancakes">Andrea's</a> site for other flours)</div>
</li>
</ul>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
Directions:</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
In stand mixer bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water and sugar. Stir enough to wet the yeast. Let this mixture sit for 10 minutes (a little longer won't hurt). Measure 1/3 cup of oil and add to the bowl, no need to stir. Add 6 cups of flour and 1 tablespoon of salt to the bowl. Mix on low setting (I used 2) with the dough hook for 5 to 8 minutes. If it's to sticky add additional flour, 1/4 to 1/2 cup at a time and incorporate it well. If you are uncertain about whether it needs more flour or not check out the step by step tutorial, with pictures, at <a data-mce-href="http://penniesandpancakes.blogspot.com/2012/10/how-to-make-homemade-bread-step-by-step.html" href="http://penniesandpancakes.blogspot.com/2012/10/how-to-make-homemade-bread-step-by-step.html" target="_blank" title="How to Make Homemade Bread (Step by Step)">Andrea's</a>. If you don't have a stand mixer the above steps can be done by hand, it's just a little more labor intensive.</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
Heat oven about 1 minute and then turn back off. Cover the bowl of dough with a clean dishtowel and place on the upper rack in the oven. Place a bowl of very hot water on the bottom rack, close the oven and let the dough rise for about 1 hour until it has doubled in size. Remove bowl from oven and punch down dough. Knead, right in bowl, about 10 to 15 times (it doesn't really need much - I just turned mine out onto the floured countertop and kneaded about 10 times.)</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
Shape into 2 loaves (they don't have to be perfect - mine didn't look pretty in the pan but they baked up beautifully) and place them into 2 greased loaf pans. Cover with the clean dishtowel and leave sitting on the countertop until doubled in size - about 30 to 45 minutes.</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
Bake in preheated 375 degree oven for 25 minutes or until golden brown (Mine didn't look browned enough after 25 minutes so I baked them 35 minutes and they came out great!)</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
Remove from pan to cooling rack immediately. I brushed the tops of mine with a little butter. Cool for 10 minutes or however long you can stand to wait and then slice and ENJOY!!!</div>

<br /></div>
I recently made this dessert for a family get-together. My family always requests my chocolate desserts and they disappear quickly along with smiles and comments of "my favorite dessert!". But, great as chocolate is, I really wanted a change of pace so decided on this strawberry banana dessert - I mean really, who doesn't like strawberries and bananas?? Well, this was a definite hit! One brother even commented that he now has a new "favorite"! I don't have an actual "recipe" so I've tried to list the ingredients I used as accurately as I remember. If you have any questions on the dessert please do not hesitate to e-mail me or put your questions in the comments and I will get right back to you. I really hope that you enjoy this dessert as much as my family did! (My picture doesn't do justice to the dessert so please don't judge it based on that - give it a try anyway)<br />

<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
Ingredients:</div>
<ul>
<li><div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
2 cups crushed vanilla sandwich cookies</div>
</li>
<li><div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
1/3 cup butter, melted</div>
</li>
<li><div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
8 ounces cream cheese, softened</div>
</li>
<li><div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
1/3 cup sugar</div>
</li>
<li><div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
1 1/2 to 2 cups fresh strawberries, chopped</div>
</li>
<li><div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
2 or 3 bananas, sliced</div>
</li>
<li><div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
3 cups whipped topping, divided</div>
</li>
<li><div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
2 (3.4 ounce) packages vanilla instant pudding</div>
</li>
<li><div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
3 1/2 cups cold milk</div>
</li>
</ul>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
Directions:</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
Crush vanilla sandwich cookies. (I like to do them in my food processor, but you can also use a zip lock bag to crush them in) Add melted butter and mix well. Reserve about 2 tablespoons of crumb mixture for top of dessert. Press remaining crumb mixture onto the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish. Refrigerate while preparing filling.</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
Mix cream cheese and sugar in medium bowl until blended. Add strawberries and mix well. You can add more or less strawberries as desired. (More is always better - right?) You can probably use frozen strawberries if you don't have fresh, just drain them so they don't make your cream cheese layer to thin. Gently stir in 2 cups of whipped topping and then spread over crust.</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
Whisk pudding mix and milk about 2 minutes and sit aside. Slice bananas and layer them over the cream cheese strawberry mixture. I used 3 small bananas to make a nice layer - use more or less as desired. Pour prepared pudding over the banana layer and refrigerate 5 minutes to make sure pudding is set. Then spread remaining whipped topping over pudding and sprinkle reserved crumb mixture over the top. Refrigerate about 4 hours before serving</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
.</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
Enjoy!</div>

<br />
I love puddings and by far prefer cook and serve puddings to instant puddings. I'm also a big fan of items I can make at home that taste as good as the items you can buy, but that don't have the long list of chemicals. When I saw this pudding recipe listed at <a href="http://www.hillbillyhousewife.com/" target="_blank">Hillbilly Housewife</a> <span class="mceItemHidden">I just had to give it a try. I was very pleasantly surprised! This pudding recipe was very easy to make and tastes fantastic. It's a rich and creamy chocolate and has a great consistency. In addition, it has no eggs and can be made with powdered milk - what more could I want? If you, like me, like homemade items, this is a recipe you really should give a try - it's well worth the little amount of time it takes to make it and you can serve it to your family without worrying about unwanted chemicals!</span><br />

I have seen many recipes for Homemade Oreo Cookies on the internet and most of them are very similar. This is the one I decided to try, and was very pleased with the result. These vary only slightly from the other recipes so I have no doubt that all of them are very, very good. I know that I love Oreos, who can resist these favorites we grew up with? Not me, that's for sure! And, everyone I have had sample them has thought these cookies were delicious. To me they don't taste just like Oreos but I find the difference to be one that I really like. These cookies are softer and can have as much filling as you might want to put in them. Anyway I look at it, I and my friends thought these cookies were definite winners!!!<br />

<img alt="" class="mceWPmore mceItemNoResize" data-mce-src="https://gramshomecooking.wordpress.com/wp-includes/js/tinymce/plugins/wordpress/img/trans.gif" src="https://gramshomecooking.wordpress.com/wp-includes/js/tinymce/plugins/wordpress/img/trans.gif" title="More..." /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Cookie Ingredients:</div>
<ul>
<li><div style="text-align: left;">
1 devil's food cake mix</div>
</li>
<li><div style="text-align: left;">
1/2 shortening or cooking oil</div>
</li>
<li><div style="text-align: left;">
2 eggs</div>
</li>
</ul>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Cookie Directions:</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Mix cake mix, shortening or oil and eggs until smooth. Roll dough into dime size balls. (The recipe I used stated to place them on the cookie sheet at this point. I flattened them in my hand to about 1/4 inch thickness before placing on cookie sheet.) Place on parchment lined cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees for about 7 minutes. Watch closely so that cookies don't overbake if you want to have them fairly soft. Cool completely.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Vanilla Filling Ingredients:</div>
<ul>
<li><div style="text-align: left;">
1/4 cup butter (1/2 stick), softened</div>
</li>
<li><div style="text-align: left;">
2 ounces cream cheese, softened</div>
</li>
<li><div style="text-align: left;">
1 1/3 to 1 1/2 cups marshmallow cream</div>
</li>
<li><div style="text-align: left;">
2 teaspoons vanilla extract</div>
</li>
<li><div style="text-align: left;">
1 to 2 cups powdered sugar</div>
</li>
<li><div style="text-align: left;">
1/4 teaspoon salt</div>
</li>
</ul>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Filling Directions:</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Combine butter, cream cheese, marshmallow cream, vanilla and salt with an electric mixer on medium until well blended and smooth. Add powdered sugar in small amounts and continue to mix well until the desired consistency. I used about 2 cups in my filling. You want the filling firm enough to hold it's shape. Place about 1 tablespoon of filling (or more if you like lots of filling) on bottom of a cookie and place another cookie on top, bottom down to form a sandwich. Let cookies set until filling firms up (if you can wait that long!)</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Enjoy!!!</div>

My family has a big get together each year over Labor Day weekend and I usually supply the desserts. This year I was looking for something a little different than what I usually make. So in addition to the tried, true and requested that I make each year I decided to try some additional, easy to eat on the run items. I made up some of my <a data-mce-href="http://gramshomecooking.wordpress.com/2011/12/21/cream-cheese-sugar-cookies/" href="http://gramshomecooking.blogspot.com/2011/12/cream-cheese-sugar-cookies.html" target="_blank" title="Cream Cheese Sugar Cookies">Cream Cheese Sugar Cookies</a> the first night and when they disappeared quickly decided to do another cookie the next night. I found white baking chips in my cupboard and found this recipe on the back of the Hershey's Premier White Chips bag. Since chocolate is always a big favorite I decided to give it a try. The cookies baked up really nicely and had a really good flavor. They were soft and chewy and got rave reviews! But then, with my family, anything chocolate always goes over big. If your family is like mine, these are a winner!<br />

<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
Ingredients:</div>
<ul>
<li><div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened</div>
</li>
<li><div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">

</li>
<li><div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">

</li>
<li><div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
2 teaspoons vanilla extract</div>
</li>
<li><div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
2 cups all-purpose flour</div>
</li>
<li><div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
3/4 cup cocoa</div>
</li>
<li><div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
1 teaspoon baking soda</div>
</li>
<li><div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
1/2 teaspoon salt</div>
</li>
<li><div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
2 cups white baking chips</div>
</li>
</ul>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
Directions:</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
Heat oven to 350 degrees.</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
Beat butter and sugar in large bowl until creamy. Add eggs and vanilla; beat until light and fluffy. Stir together flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt. Gradually beat into butter mixture. Stir in white baking chips. Drop by rounded teaspoons onto ungreased cookie sheet, or parchment lined baking sheets.</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
Bake for 8 to 9 minutes (In my oven 7 minutes turned out to be just right). (Do not overbake, cookies will be soft. They will puff up while baking, flatten upon cooling.) Cool slightly ; remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. Cool completely. Makes about 5 dozen cookies.</div>

I love taco salads but don't always want to make them up in the tortilla bowls. This is a great way to make up taco salad for a potluck or family get together. You can make as much or as little as you will need. If you have people who may not care for the salad dressing you can always leave it off and serve it on the side. The salad looks pretty in the bowl and when tossed well and served, tastes great!<br />

<div style="text-align: left;">
Ingredients:</div>
<ul>
<li><div style="text-align: left;">
1/2 cup mayo</div>
</li>
<li><div style="text-align: left;">
1/2 cup sour cream</div>
</li>
<li><div style="text-align: left;">
1 tablespoon taco seasoning mix</div>
</li>
<li><div style="text-align: left;">
1 can black beans, rinsed</div>
</li>
<li><div style="text-align: left;">
6 cups coarsely chopped iceberg lettuce</div>
</li>
<li><div style="text-align: left;">
1/2 cups sliced red onions</div>
</li>
<li><div style="text-align: left;">
1/2 cup sliced black olives</div>
</li>
<li><div style="text-align: left;">
1 1/2 cups shredded Mexican Style Cheese (or shredded cheddar)</div>
</li>
<li><div style="text-align: left;">
1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved</div>
</li>
<li><div style="text-align: left;">
1/4 cup loosely packed fresh cilantro</div>
</li>
<li><div style="text-align: left;">
<span class="mceItemHidden">coarsely broken tortilla chips</span></div>
</li>
</ul>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Directions</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
:</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
Mix first 3 ingredients until well blended and set aside. I use my <a href="http://gramshomecooking.blogspot.com/2012/05/taco-seasoning-ii.html" target="_blank">homemade taco seasoning mix</a>. <span class="mceItemHidden">Layer beans, lettuce, onions, olives and cheese in a large bowl. A glass bowl with fairly straight sides works best to make the salad look pretty. Place halved cherry tomatoes, cut side down, over the cheese. Spread dressing mixture over the salad. (or leave dressing off to serve on the side if you prefer) Cover bowl and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.</span></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
To serve mix salad well. ( No, it won't look as pretty then but you want the flavors mixed well. ) Top with broken tortilla chips. Sprinkle with cilantro.</div>

<span class="mceItemHidden">This recipe is super easy to make and can be made with lots of different flavors. I made mine with cherry pie filling and it turned out delicious. It can also be made with crushed pineapple or with any flavor of pie filling that you like. As I said it's super easy to make, just pour the 1 step angel food cake mix into a bowl, dump in the pie filling, stir together and pour into the pan. It took me about 3 minutes to mix it up. It does sink some when taken out of the oven, so don't let that panic you. It makes a super moist, flavorful cake, though not with a normal angel food cake look. This will definitely go on my make in a hurry for unexpected quests list! I hope that you decide to give it a try and let me know what you think!</span><br />

<span class="mceItemHidden">This is a great recipe from the Betty Crocker site made with sugar cookie mix. I was in a hurry when I needed to make up a batch of cookies and since I had a pouch of the mix I decided to give these a try. I plan on making some soon from scratch with my sugar cookie recipe and basically rolled up and sliced the same way - not that these are bad, they are actually very tasty. I just prefer to have things made from scratch. This dough was not hard to work with and rolled out easily and rolled into a log with only a couple of very small cracks. After chilling they sliced up nicely and baked up looking pretty. They also taste great - so what more could you ask for???? They are definitely worth trying since the idea of them is different and will get positive comments, plus who doesn't like the taste of cinnamon rolls?</span><br />

<div style="text-align: left;">
Ingredients:</div>
<ul>
<li><div style="text-align: left;">
1 pouch Betty Crocker Sugar Cookie Mix</div>
</li>
<li><div style="text-align: left;">
1/2 cup butter, softened</div>
</li>
<li><div style="text-align: left;">
1/4 cup flour</div>
</li>
<li><div style="text-align: left;">
1 egg</div>
</li>
<li><div style="text-align: left;">
1 tablespoon butter, melted</div>
</li>
<li><div style="text-align: left;">
1/4 cup sugar</div>
</li>
<li><div style="text-align: left;">
1 tablespoon cinnamon</div>
</li>
</ul>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Directions:</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Stir cookie mix, softened butter, flour and egg until dough forms. On lightly floured surface roll dough to about 1/4 inch thickness. Brush with melted butter.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span class="mceItemHidden">Combine sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle evenly over dough. Roll up dough jelly roll<span class="mceItemHidden"> </span>fashion, starting at long side. Wrap roll in plastic wrap. Freeze 30 minutes or until firm.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Heat oven to 375 degrees. Cut dough into 3/4 inch slices. On ungreased cookie sheet or on parchment lined cookie sheet place slices 2 inches apart. Bake 11 - 12 minutes or until edges are light golden brown. (I baked mine at 350 degrees for 9 minutes and they came out great) Cool 2 minutes and then move to cooling racks. Drizzle or frost with the following:</div>
<ul>
<li><div style="text-align: left;">
3/4 cup powdered sugar</div>
</li>
<li><div style="text-align: left;">
1 tablespoon milk</div>
</li>
</ul>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Mix powdered sugar and milk together well and drizzle over cookies.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Enjoy cinnamon roll flavor in a cookie! </div>
